Dorothy was born to the late Ellen (Shipstedt) and Theodore Ellstrom, March 16, 1920, in Lima, OH. Dorothy graduated from McKeesport High School in 1938. She married the late Fred Kropp in 1940, and they lived together in McKeesport, PA, before relocating to Halifax in 2005, where she lived with her daughter, Dotty, and her husband Thomas E. Kolanko. For the past year and a half, Dorothy has resided at Manor Care of Camp Hill, PA.
Dorothy was a homemaker and served as a White Oak Bureau school crossing guard for 19 years.
Dorothy was the oldest living member and was heavily involved with her church, St. John's Lutheran Church, in McKeesport, PA, where she served on church council. She also served as the president of the Thiel Women's Club of St. John's Church. After relocating to Halifax, Dorothy was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, in Enterline, PA.
Dorothy is survived by two children; Dotty Kolanko, of Halifax, PA, and Vicki Zawoysky, of Mechanicsburg, PA. She also is survived by four grandchildren; T.J. Kolanko, Matthew Kolanko, Jay Kolanko and Calla Zawoysky.
Family and friends will be received at Willig Funeral Home & Cremation Services on Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Saturday viewing at St. John's Lutheran Church 9 a.m. until the hour of Worship Service at 10 a.m. Interment at McKeesport and Versailles Cemetery to follow.
